It is honestly very sad that so many great R&B sonbirds from the 90's have really been forgotten about on the radio. that sadly has shown to be the case with Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton and many other great singers. That too has been said for Vanessa Williams. While she has shown a strong comeback as a actress on the ABC series Ugly betty, there are those who do want her to get back out there as a singer once again. She definitely has shown that as a great role model, and a elequent vocalist over the years.

Vanessa

I bought this CD under the false impression that it was a gospel album by the pop star, Vanessa Williams (singer of "Save the Best for Last", "Dreamin", "The Sweetest Days", etc.). So I was disappointed at first to find that it was a new singer I had never heard of. However, on listening to the whole thing, I found that this new Vanessa has a truly beautiful voice. Exquisite even. The songs, although all carry a gospel theme, vary widely in style and impression, so the album maintains its interest from start to finish.

Into the Woods (2002 Broadway Revival Cast)

My flatmate and I listened to this recording, both being fans of the OBC. And we were constantly looking at each other in disbelief. We both couldn't get over Vanessa Williams lack of expression and the number of times the recording sounded a little off.

revival casts are meant to improve on the first, this one matched at times and came lower other times.

only buy if you're a fan. the packaging is equally disappointing. For a show so rich in texture, i would assume a more mature sense of design.

It's Black Entertainment is a documentary about the contributions African Americans have made in the entertainment industry. It features commentary by such greats as Debbie Allen, Gregory Hines, Spike Lee, Ice-T, Faynard Nicholas, Little Richard and Wynton Marsalis. The quality of the sound is great and the way these great entertainers are interviewed demonstrates good judgment.

Unfortunately, after that, this documentary runs into trouble--and fast. From the very beginning we see little more than remarkably short clips of the best of the best performing in movies and live on stage.
