Roy Orbison: Black & White Night [Blu-ray]

This is another great Blu-ray concert... the video is superb (black & white, but superb), the audio is even better (dts-HD codec + 96/24 resolution- really doesn't get much better than that). It's a great concert by a legendary artist with (still) legendary vocals... supported by numerous other stars all on the same stage. The man might be gone, but truly his music and his talents live on.

Bottom line: If you like Roy Orbison, and want to see a great concert presented in the best possible way using Blu-ray technology, then pick this disc up.

Famous Blue Raincoat: 20th Anniversary Edition

and I am so glad this has been reissued. Twenty years ago I owned it on tape, and wore it out in about six years of frequent play. I loved seven of the nine songs, only feeling that "Manhattan" and "Raincoat" were a notch below the others. Her duet with Cohen on "Joan of Arc" had me in a spell, and along with "Song of Bernadette" which Jennifer co-wrote, were the two tracks I repeated time and time again. But her takes on "Bird on a Wire" and "Coming Back to You" and "Came So Far for Beauty" were also delightful no matter how many times I heard them.

The Best of Jennifer Warnes

I am a senior citizen who was much younger when 'An Officer and A Gentleman' first premiered. The duet with Joe Cocker (Up Where We Belong) renewed my interest in Jennifer Warnes who had a hit single, 'Right Time of the Night,' earlier. I taped the LP and played it often on my car's casette player. Now I can play the CD on my current car's CD player. Although some would taq her as a country singer, she is not. More of a soft rock purveyor. For those of you who have never heard this singer I say, 'Try it.
