shows a spectacular level of creativity, not only from crewsdon himself but to all the other faces behind the scenes, that it surely takes, in order to pull off this type of procuction. like living stage sets, with nature and light used to such surreal advantage.

I love this book, its so inspiring. The title "twilight" is a time of the day when things seem real but at the same time they dont. The thing I love is that the illustrations look like photographs in a way, which is the piont their trying to make.

i was excited to see this book, before i actually saw it, and disappointed by how few excellent images the artist has produced over the 20 years the book covers. the black and white aerial creations were fascinating, but the earlier color work seems average when put up against other similar work of the time. the later stuff is also very interesting, but they need the scale of a gallery with huge walls to have the intended effect - in a book they just don't translate.

i would suggest jeff wall or philip lorca di corcia before this book, and mitch epstein or joel sternfeld for the real choice stuff.

Gregory Crewdson: Fireflies

There are some wonderful images here that take you to those summer nights of youth. It's fun to see the night lit up with fireflies, seeing the patterns nature creates.
There are some images that really don't do it for me. Pretty much black images with little flicks of white. I mean, I get what is happening in these shots, but it still doesn't translate to book form. Oh well, unto every picnic, a little rain must fall.
This book is now rare and very expensive. I don't know if you should spend the money to own a copy.
