The classic Photofile series brings together the best work of the world's greatest photographers in an attractive format and at a reasonable price. Handsome and collectible, the books are produced to the highest standards. Each volume contains some sixty full-page reproductions printed in superb duotone, together with a critical introduction and a full bibliography. Now back in print, the series was awarded the first annual prize for distinguished photographic books by the International Center of Photography.

My main criticism about this book is about it's design -- there are no captions under pictures. Instead, the designer decided to add photo captions to the end of the book as index. So to see caption of a photo you need to open page 154, then find thumbnail-sized image of the photo you were looking at, or your photo's page number, and voila, now you can read its caption there. Repeat that for each photo in the book and you get what I mean. It is beyond me how someone can make so stupid usability mistakes, but that happens daily with many different products.
