The Best of George Benson

I am a big fan of George Benson and own most of his Audio collection. But most of it is on Tape and this is my 2nd George Benson CD. In my country (India) we don't get George Benson CD's so I was searching for one on the Internet and got it in Amazon. I love this CD, its one of the best George Benson Collection to own. The quality of recording is very good which cannot be compared to Audio Tapes. Great CD Highly recommended.

Collaboration

George Benson and Earl Klugh used to be two of my favourite guitarists. Others have taken the top spot in my affections these days but I'm still a huge fan of their respective back catalogues, and when they put this out back in 1987 I was simply delirious. I don't think I'd heard them together since Klugh guested on Benson's cover of his song "Livin' Inside Your Love" from Benson's 1979 album of the same name.

Tommy LiPuma is the producer behind the boards once again and with support from people like Greg Phillinganes on keyboards & synthesizers, Marcus Miller on bass, Harvey Mason on drums, Paulinho Da Costa on percussion and Paul Jackson on rhythm guitar, Benson (on electric guitar) and Klugh (on classical guitar) simply shine.

I Got No Kick Against Modern Jazz

This is an incredible album especially if you are just getting your toes wet with light jazz. For the Jazz purist, this would probably be too contemporary. Highlights are Nelson Rangell's sax on "let It Be', Arthuro Sandoval's version of 'Blackbird' and George Benson's version of 'Long And Winding Road'. But don't sell the rest of the disc short - Diana Krall's version of 'And I Love Her' shines. Not a bad cut on this album.

I'm a big George Benson fan and this DVD really amazed me. Apparentely, he played everything on it without any preparation. My jaw just dropped. That said, it's a pity that he didn't even bother to tune his guitars before as he should. They are totally out of tune all the time. It could have been a much better DVD.
