Astounding the number of friends that Jim Capaldi had, all the way from new wave (Paul Weller, who jumpstarts the show with "Paper Sun") to a guy from that forgotten-but-not-quite-gone/Shel Silverstein vehicle group, Dr. Hook, Eagle Joe Walsh, Bill Wyman of the Stones, Jon Lord of Deep Purple, Wix Wickens of Paul McCartney's newest band, Pete Townshend of the Who - and of course, Steve Winwood. Winwood's newest "Traffic Incarnation" here is, for my money, the very best I've seen since the original Winwood/Capaldi/Wood/Mason(?) edition (and that includes that 90's thing).

Back at the tender age of 13,I picked up a bass guitar and began to thump away on the E string, until I learned to master the instrument. I did this all because I saw a guy and his band on T.V. by the name of Thin Lizzy. I remember it to this day.

This tribute was the most emotional thing to watch, amazing, amazing, amazing! I give it 5 stars, but might have to deduct a one half percentage point for not having John Sykes there, to rip through Thunder and Lightning or Sun Goes Down. Even though he was only on two albums, studio and the farewell tour live album, he too was apart of Phils life.

Out in the Fields: The Very Best of Gary Moore

This is an excellent overview of Gary Moore's solo work. No, it isn't complete-that would take 3 discs minimum. This album has more of Moore's hard rock material rather than his great blues playing. Gary Moore has always been one of the most underrated guitarists around. He gets credit for playing the blues, but he has always been a great rock guitarist - some of Thin Lizzy's best stuff is with Moore on guitar.
Every song on this album has strong playing, but some favorites are: Out In The Fields, Over The Hills, Empty Rooms, Still Got The Blues and Parisienne Walkways(this soloing is jaw dropping).
