Bela Fleck music

Jingle All the Way

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones have come together with a wonderful Christmas CD in the form of Jingle all the Way.
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones are making some of the most innovative and refreshing music these days, and it really shows in this Christmas CD.

Bela plays the banjo, Victor Wooten on bass guitar, Future Man on percussion, and Jeff Coffin on sax and woodwinds and strange vocals. The last one does make some really strange vocal noises that I've heard in recent years; he doesn't sing, he nasally and throatfully performs, and strangely appropriate at times(Jingle Bells and Jingle Bells are examples).

Tracks:
    1. Jingle Bells
    2. Silent Night
    3. Sleigh Ride
    4. The Christmas Song
    5. Twelve Days of Christmas
    6. J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio - BVW 248 # 41

    12. What Child Is This/Dyngyldai

Perpetual Motion

Fleck's 2001 disc `Perpetual Motion' is by far his most ambitious foray into virtuosity, performing classical works by Bach, Scarlatti and Chopin.

And he does it without really showing off. He only tackles mazurkas, fugues and Bach classical inventions on the five-string banjo, a simple instrument for which this music was never conceived.

I once flirted with playing the banjo, and it wasn't an easy task, even trying to play 'Uncle Pen'.

But the man must be possessed to play it like Bela does.

Tracks:
    1. Scarlatti: Keyboard Sonata in C Major K. 159
    2. Bach: Two-Part Invention No. 13
    3. Debussy: "Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum" from Children's Corner
    4. Chopin: Mazurka in F-sharp Minor

    12. Bach: Three-Part Invention No. 15
    13. Paganini: Moto Perpetuo
    14. Scarlatti: Keyboard Sonata in D Minor K. 213
    15. Bach: Two-Part Invention No. 6
    16. Beethoven: "Adagio sostenuto" from "Moonlight" Sonata
    17. Bach: Two-Part Invention No. 11
