Hot Dog...The Movie

I got to this movie via Ski School, a movie that proudly sits within my top 15 list. I have a random appreciation for movies. I appreciate the pensive, cinematograhpic and acting beauty of There Will Be Blood, the timeless minimalism of Halloween, and the grandiose action of Transformers. But yet Ski School has a very special place in my connection, and I hoped that Hot Dog would provide a similar level of satisfaction. A bit through the movie, undeniable plot parallels emerged - there's a skiing competition of the good guys vs the bad guys, the good guys have a long standing champion who readily accepts a new comer replacement, the replacement struggles through 2 love interests, etc.

This will surprise anyone who reads this. I am NOT a huge Kiss fan. I own NO Kiss merchandise other than 1 CD. That's it. I like a few of their songs.

I got into watching the series & I enjoy it.

A lot of this you KNOW is just set up for TV.

I like the kids Nick & Sophie. You wish other celebrity kids were like them. Gene & Shannon a job well done with them.

The show is a guilty pleasure. Gene having to put Kiss on every piece of merchandise he can think of.

Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death

More fun to watch now than it was when it first came out. The movie is very well done. The premise of the movie is that a feminist studies professor is sent into the Avocado Jungle of Death to try to negotiate with the savage, cannibal women that live there to secure avocados to prevent a U.S.S.R. / U.S. avocado gap.

The professor is joined by Bunny, who is contemplating changing her major for home economics to feminine studies and their male guide (played by Bill Maher).

The movie is fantastically "over the top" and funny.

Firing Line, The

"The Firing Line" is one of the worst films to be made in the recent past. Essentially it involves Reb Brown ("Space Mutiny") as an American military advisor on a mission to some fictitious South American country with a rebel problem. Made five years after the Iran-Contra affair, and at a time when the "Rambo" series was extremely popular and profitable, the film may have seemed reasonably topical (though still wretched) at the time: it is now merely another overacted action film.

The film starts by showing Reb Brown picking up Shannon Tweed in a bar.
