What a great love story! I can't really add anything new to previous reviews; however, I wanted to emphasize that this movie is excellent. SRK is almost unrecognizable as Suri/Raj, but he is such a professional. The songs are fantastic. If you buy this movie, expect to laugh & cry & most of all to come away with a smile on your face.

Devdas (2 Disc Set)

This was one of the biggest blockbusters in India of all time. It is also immensely popular outside of India.

Apparently the plotline is based on an old Bengali tale. There is even an earlier, lower-budget version in Bengali, but this giant Bollywood production is in Hindi.

This is a lush period piece set in the early 20th century. The cinematography and set design is unbelievably gorgeous. The songs, sung in the style of the time, are mesmerizing. And my girl, Madhuri Dixit, the worlds' greatest dancer, steals the show.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (Shahrukh Khan)

This is a great movie. Kajol and Khan always make a good romantic pair. I would certainly recommend this to those who enjoy lots of music and dance in Bollywood films.

Veer-Zaara

The film was billed as a "love legend" and it certainly does have grand, epic sweep. But the story moves at a snail's pace, and the very long, dull musical numbers weigh it down even more. However, the premise alone is compelling enough--a forbidden, cross-border affair between an Indian boy and a Pakistani girl. Actress Rani Mukerji plays Saamiya, a human-rights lawyer in Pakistan who's working to free an Indian who's been wrongfully imprisoned there for 22 years. The story of this brave military pilot, whose spirit has been shattered behind bars, is told in flashback.
