My kids were just at the wrong age, too young, for me to have gotten into South Park, so "Team America" was kind of a revelation to me. The movie is vulgar, politically incorrect and oh so crude. But it is also a very smart combination of writing, smart puppeteering and topical satire that is just has to be seen to be believed.

Team America is a group of star-spangled fighters who take on terrorists. They tend to be a little quick on the draw, and often cause more damage to those they want to save than the bad guys.

When South Park first aired on Comedy Central in 1997, no-one was ready for its unique and potentially offensive brand of humor. However, it quickly became one of the most popular and groundbreaking shows in television history, appealing to both teenagers and adults, even though it's really only appropriate for adults. Younger audiences enjoyed the crude humor (including countless fart jokes) and ridiculous plots, while adults and more mature teenagers had an appreciation for the show's important messages and social and political commentary.

What can I say. The DVD's are what they are. Entertaining as hell and they make you laugh despite very controversial subjects at times. I think they are great, but maybe not for everyone.

Like a fine wine, this season only gets better with age.

Every time I go back and re-watch South Park from beginning to end, I learn to enjoy Season Two even more. While some people revere Season Five as their break away, Season Two offers the excellent development of the most beloved South Park characters and themes. It introduces more mystery stories, features the first full Terrance and Phillip episode, shows South Park's ability to satirize current events and fads, and displays amazing creativity with a Three episode intertwined story.
