This set contains five of the pairs' ten films. However this set does not contain the first five or the best five. Rather the films are split without rhyme or reason between the two sets.

If you buy this set, after viewing a few of the films you will quickly find yourself ordering Volume 2.

Volume 1 is great, better than Volume 2, but both are must haves.

Finian's Rainbow is a fun adventure. Can't go wrong with Fred Astaire. Petula Clark was ok but needed more of an Irish brogue.

ON THE BEACH is a powerful film based upon the novel by Neville Shute about the end of Mankind due to the lethal radiation drift down and across the Southern Hemisphere of the Globe following a nuclear war in the Northern Hemisphere. The acting is strong and the screenplay and direction are smart and lean, with just enough energy and pacing to relay the story and the implications of the horrors of mutually assured destruction resulting from a catastrophic nuclear confrontation between Nations. The movie was released in 1959, however, the screenplay sets the time into the (then) future of the early 1960's.
