Being a big Kevin Smith fan, I bought this sight unseen and was left decidedly nonplussed when it was all over. Kevin's love letter to the 80s action buddy cop flick has its moments, but overall falls rather flat and just feels disappointing for those of us who've admired his work over the years.

As far as the disc itself goes, there's very little to complain about. Both the video and audio presentations of the film are very good. The Maximum Movie Mode (or Maximum Comedy Mode) as it's known on the BD is excellent, and (for me anyway) provides more entertainment than the feature.

This review is more about the set than the movies. I bought this set at the store last year (so too late to return it), but only got time to watch them today. I'm not that much of a stickler when it comes to quality as long as it's not so bad that I really notice, which I didn't.
However I had 2 problems with this particular set. First, half of the little tabs that are supposed to hold the DVDs in the cases were broken so all the DVDs were loose. And second, all 4 of the movie discs had one place during the movie where it skipped to the next scene (the 1st one actually had 3 skip places).

1. An important disclaimer: I one of the few folks who never watched this when it came out and thus I'm viewing it from the vantage point of 2010.

2. With the above being said, this movie is a total bore. The storyline was dumb, the acting terrible, and the whole "look" of the film was so "dated"; it's one of the movies that doesn't age well over time. What may have appeared to be interesting and cutting edge, now looks childish and an amateur production.

3. Basically, if you grew up with this movie, I can perhaps understand why is has appeal.
