A highly stylized and satisfying version of the 1930's underworld. A chesslike plot melodramticaly propels characters. The scene where Leo defends an attack on his house with a Thompson sub machine gun is one of my favorite action scenes of all time.

This DVD of "Annie" is the full-screen version, wherein 40% of the picture has been chopped off the sides. It is virtually unwatchable, and Sony should be ashamed for releasing a widescreen/scope film in this way.

Sony has previously released the widescreen version of the film on DVD, but without the special features or DTS sound, so it might be best to wait for a future release that presents the film properly and has the bonus features. Or wait for the inevitable Blu-ray release which should be really nice.

Every once in awhile, you come apon a film, that just totally blows you away. It's just great from the very first scene to the last one.The only thing you can say to yourself as the end credits roll is "wow, thats' what great filmmaking and acting is all about". Such is the case with Director, Sidney Lumet's powerhouse of a melodrama, "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead".

In this film we are introduced to two adult brothers, Andy (Philip Seymour Hoffman) and Hank Hanson (Ethan Hawke).

I love this movie! You want to get away without leaving your house, pop this movie in with nice glass of wine. Other than Gladiator, I truly believe that this is Russel Crowes finest movies. You always feel good after watching this movie.
